Overview

Immerse yourself in the mountains, forests and lochs within Scotland’s first National Park as you hike and wild swim along the Great Trossachs Path. Starting from Inversnaid at Loch Lomond in the West, you’ll make your way to Callander in the East, taking in majestic scenery, lochs, ancient woodlands, wildlife and history. Along the 48km route you’ll have the chance to wild swim in the lochs and explore the dramatic landscapes within the Great Trossachs Forest National Nature Reserve, the second largest nature reserve in Britain. The is one of Scotland’s Great Trails and connects with other Great Trails such as the Rob Roy Way, West Highland Way and Three Lochs Way. 

The Great Trossachs Path is regarded as one of Scotland’s Great Trails and you’ll be in complete agreement after this trip! The reserve has had over 2.5 million native trees planted in the last decade, part of a 200-year plan to revitalise the forest for animals and people.

Accompanied by an experienced and super friendly local guide who’s a qualified beach lifeguard, swimming teacher & coach from Adventurous Ewe.

Join us for an unforgettable journey through the outstanding natural beauty of mature woodlands rich in wildlife and history. Plus it’s all within a half an hours’ drive from the medieval City of Stirling which is accessible by train from any major city in the UK.

Is this trip right for you?

With shorter daily swim distances and dips, this trip is perfect for those who are new or enjoy freshwater dipping and/or swimming and who are looking for a 5-day break amidst some of the Scotland’s most outstanding natural beauty. The trip follows the Great Trossach Path so swimmers should also be comfortable with hiking to reach majestic swimming spots along the Path.

Whether you’re new-ish to wild swimming or have a basic understanding of open water swimming, this adventure will suit you. Our local Swim & Mountain Leader will provide plenty of tips and advice and also coaching of stroke correction where feasible.  

The average swim distance is around 1.5km. The average daily swim distance is around 3km.

This trip is graded as ‘Medium’ as it’s designed for people who wish to swim at a more relaxed pace and enjoy the scenery together with developing their wild swimming experience. Please note, this grading is for the swim only and does not take into account the hike along the Great Trossachs Pathway.

Travel arrangements

All travel arrangements and pick up/drop off locations are flexible within reason.  We can also provide a pick up service en route from North Wales to Fort William if you live along the way. We travel up from Snowdonia to Fort William, where you can join us in the minibus or alternately you can fly or take the train to Glasgow on Friday night or first thing on Saturday morning. Traverse the entire length of Snowdonia National Park in just 3 days under your own steam! Experience a full multi-sport crossing from coast to coast across the wildest terrain of Snowdonia. Heading off the beaten track by bike, boots and boats you’ll tackle ancient drover trails, forest tracks, mountain ascents, secluded lakes and sweeping rivers.

Connect the south and north coasts of Wales from starting at the seaside town of Barmouth to finish on the majestic shores of Conwy Castle and overnighting at quaint Welsh villages in-between. This carefully curated route takes in many places of natural, cultural and historic interest which will captivate your imagination and provide the perfect distraction from travelling 125kms under your own power.

Experience the rugged landscape of Snowdonia with this one day action packed challenge of cycling, trekking and kayaking.

The Snowdon Challenge Multi Activity Adventure was created by Adventurous Ewe and is proudly our flagship event right here in our own backyard. Chief Ewe, Jim Young, carefully crafted this trip in order to showcase a variety of stunning landscapes across Snowdonia plus give you the chance to experience a variety of fun activities along the way. The event also supports the local communities in terms of using local leaders & crew, local accommodation and catering providers.

In teams of up to 10 people, you’ll complete each leg of the Snowdon challenge accompanied by one of our friendly leaders. There’ll be checkpoints in-between each activity to provide you with snacks to refuel, a home-made packed lunch of local produce and you’ll have the chance to refill your water bottles and flasks. All equipment hire is included – bikes, helmets, double sit-on-top kayaks, buoyancy aids & paddles.

You don’t have to be a pro at cycling or kayaking, just have an adventurous spirit which will see you conquer this 24.5-mile route in the epic Snowdonia landscape.

It’s a perfect weekend away in the heart of one of the UK’s greatest adventure playgrounds. Plus, why not extend your adventure with a trip to Zip World, Bounce Below, Adventure Parc Snowdonia or visit an impressive historic castle at Harlech, Caernarfon or Conwy. Packages

To give you the flexibility to book what you feel comfortable with, there are two types of packages available for the Snowdon Multi Activity Adventure:

Package 1: event only with no accommodation

Package 2: event and 1 x night’s hotel accommodation on a twin share basis 

Package 1 – the non accommodation package, you’re most welcome to stay where you feel most comfortable and in line with your budget ie. self-catered cottage, Airbnb, B&B, local yurts or camping etc. where you can then join the team the following morning in Llanberis for the start of your challenge. We’re more than happy to provide recommendations in line with your requirements.

Package 2 – includes 1 night’s accommodation in a 3 star hotel the night prior to your event. We use two different hotels, one located in the colourful mountain village of Llanberis and the other in the coastal town of Caernarfon. Free car parking is available at both hotels or it is a 20 minute taxi journey from Bangor Train Station. The rooms are allocated on a twin share (share and save basis) however if you would prefer a single room, please let us know and we will arrange this for you dependent on availability.
